Want to Love It

What is something that you really just want to love? Besides your in-laws...

Although I am happy to say that I do in fact love my in-laws. Sure, I have yet to meet them with all that is going on in the world (global pandemic and all), but I know from the relationship I already have via text that I love my mother-in-law. 🥰

But really, what is something that you want to love?

For the average child, it is likely broccoli. For many adults, it is brussel sprouts, but for me? I really want to love bok choy.

How does anyone make bok choy taste good? It has a mild, bitter taste to it that would really like to learn to love it.

Earlier in my twenties, I felt the same way about brussel sprouts until we visited a friends house and he roasted his brussel sprouts. Until then, I only ever knew brussel sprouts to be boiled and so bland.

Once we experienced them roasted, it was positively life altering, I even had to tell my mom about it. Now, she says that she also roasts them. Due to the discovery of roasting them, I can finally say that I like brussel sprouts.

Now that I know I can tackle and come out on top with brussel sprouts, I need to figure out how to do the same with bok choy!

Recently, I made a vegetarian Thai red curry that had some bok choy in it. Unfortunately, not everyone in the house was able to finish the meal due to the addition of bok choy...

Plus, I have to agree, it just wasn't amazing. The sauce was great, but this vegetable just isn't that tasty.

However, one just can't toss out the rest of their vegetables purchased (unless rotten), so I had to figure out how to make a better tasting bok choy.

I decided to try making a garlic and soy sauce sautéed bok choy. It was much better than it was in the curry. But, it still wasn't spectacular.

I need advice on how to make bok choy as incredible as roasted brussel sprouts.

I think that I will have to make a ginger, garlic, and soy sauce sautéed bok choy. Of course, I do not know how it will taste until I make it, but it should be even more flavourful than the one that I tried.

If any of you have any advice as to how to make bok choy better, please do not hesitate to let me know. We would really like to enjoy this vegetable.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
